Endings and Beginnings
30th June 2019……..That’s it, the end of my career in the Fire and Rescue Service, so what do I get up to now I have officially retired? As it turned out it wasn’t too hard a question to answer……….Photography.
It was a perfect solution as it offered the opportunity to keep physically active by being out with the camera whilst pushing me to keep the head engaged in the process of learning whilst offering the additional benefit of well-being from a mental health point of view. It was, as some would say…….a no brainer.
The people who know me well would not disagree when I say, I would describe myself an introvert by nature. Even though I had a very public facing role, more so, in the latter part of my career, I still find it difficult to be open and expressive at times. I’ve slowly started to push back on this trait through my photography and have found social media (which some would say can be a challenging place at times), to be a good medium to enable me to share my work, however it does have its limitations, the main one being image quality. For that reason I decided at least for the time being to put my body of work into a place where the image quality would not be held hostage as much, so the creation of this website is the end result of this decision.
Hopefully as time passes the content on the website will evolve, so I hope you bear with me in the shorter term as I work to populate it. If nothing else, if anyone ever sees my images on social media and wants a better look at what I have created then, they have the option of coming here for a look around.
